In the study, the researchers looked at a group of women aged 18 to 79 who were treated with sildenafil (Viagra), another drug that was originally approved by the FDA in 1998. They looked at their blood pressure, heart rate, and all the other symptoms that were associated with a diagnosis of hypertension, diabetes, and low blood pressure.
The women were randomly assigned to receive either sildenafil (20 mg) or placebo pills for a 2-week trial. After that, they had to see their doctor to see whether they would need a heart attack, stroke, or a heart attack and if they were at high risk of any of these events.

“We also wanted to see whether there is a relationship between the use of sildenafil and any changes in brain chemicals that may be associated with these outcomes.”
The researchers were not able to rule out the possibility that sildenafil was actually affecting other blood vessel and brain chemicals in the blood vessels of the brain. They were also unable to rule out the possibility that the men in their study were at higher risk for a stroke.
